The Ocean Monument Map is a specialized map that helps players locate an Ocean Monument. It is primarily used for finding Elder Guardians, sponges, and rare loot inside the structure.
An Ocean Monument Map can be obtained by trading with cartographer villagers at journeyman level in exchange for emeralds and a compass. It cannot be crafted or found in chests.
When held and viewed, the Ocean Monument Map shows a top-down view of the surrounding terrain, with a player marker and an Ocean Monument icon. The player marker moves when traveling, helping guide them toward the monument. The map does not update terrain details beyond its original rendering.
Unlike a normal map, an Ocean Monument Map has a fixed destination and does not track new areas explored by the player.
An Ocean Monument Map can be placed in item frames for display or used as a navigation tool.
The structure a map leads to depends on the trading villager's biome. Each of the two or three possible maps is a separate trade, so one villager can offer several maps.
